Hospitality School High on ‘Best Program’ List

The International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management ranks number four on TheBestSchools.org website’s list of the “20 Best Hospitality Programs,” keeping company at the top with Cornell and Michigan State universities and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. TheBestSchools.org, a higher-education resource, released the list in February.

“Our school is extremely elated and honored to receive this noteworthy recognition,” says Richard Wisch, associate dean of Petrocelli College and director, International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. “It validates our ongoing efforts to provide our students with an excellent professional education, one which affords them an ability to become highly productive practitioners and leaders in our industry.”

Rankings for each school are based on criteria including “academic quality, awards, reputation, rankings, facilities and internship opportunities.”

“The International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management provides an exceptional learning environment,” says Kenneth Vehrkens, dean, Petrocelli College. “This recognition reinforces the fact that Fairleigh Dickinson University has one of the elite hospitality programs in the United States. Congratulations to the faculty and administration for ranking fourth out of 250 hospitality programs. Since receiving the honorable recognition from TheBestSchools.org, we have had a significant increase in both phone and email inquiries about our program,” he adds.

Rated by the Princeton Review’s “Gourman Report” as one of the top four-year hospitality management programs in the United States, the program offers classes at FDU’s Metropolitan Campus and College at Florham, and four off-site New Jersey locations: Atlantic City, Jersey City, Mercer County and Ocean County.

The school offers a bachelor of science in hospitality and tourism management, a hospitality concentration within the bachelor of arts in individualized studies and a master of science in hospitality management.

The International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, founded in 1942, is the oldest program of its type in the New York metropolitan area and one of the oldest in the United States.
