Class of 2017

The freshman class of 2017 includes 1,126 students (520 at the College at Florham and 606 at the Metropolitan Campus).

The most popular majors are psychology, biology and business administration. At the Metropolitan Campus, 40 percent of the students are commuters, and 60 percent are residence students. At the College at Florham, 85 percent of the freshmen are living on campus, and 15 percent are commuters.

FDU received 11,060 applicants for freshman undergraduate admissions of which 6,027 were accepted and 1,126 enrolled. In addition to New Jersey, other states and U.S. territories represented in the class included Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin — 45 in total.

Approximately 28 percent of admitted students for the Class of 2017 are from out of state. “What I find is that kids from out of state appreciate the proximity to New York City and take advantage of campus life,” says Jonathan Wexler, vice president for enrollment management. Wexler says in recent years the University has seen an increase of interested students in Houston, Texas; Atlanta, Ga.; Miami, Fla.; Southern California; Arizona; Washington, D.C.; and Albany and Syracuse, N.Y.

Countries other than the United States represented include the Bahamas, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Germany, Kuwait, Mongolia, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Vietnam — 44 countries in total.
