Since its inception in 1942, Fairleigh Dickinson University has expanded its original goal to provide its students with an education of and for the world. In 1999, the University reaffirmed its commitment to global education with a new mission statement that seeks to create “a center of academic excellence dedicated to the preparation of world citizens through global education.”
The University has long provided study abroad and exchange programs and has partnered with many institutions world-wide. The global nature of our campuses and curriculum is rooted in our 65-year history of international student enrollment – the University’s two New Jersey campuses today host nearly 900 international students from more than 70 countries. The University's new campus in Vancouver, British Columbia, opened in fall 2007.
The University’s Global Learning Initiatives is a set of curricular, programmatic and administrative activities managed by the Office of Global Learning designed to give FDU students a well-rounded global education while preparing them to be citizens of and for the world. Expanding and strengthening the Global Learning Initiative is a University imperative consistent with our mission, purpose and aspirations.
